Whats the best digital camera?

Well depending on your budget and skill level there are some very good cameras out there. The best DSLR's would be the Canon 1DS MKIII $8,000 body only and the Nikon D3 $5,000 body only. On the other end of the spectrum there are the entry level DSLR's. Look at the following models. Play around with them and see which feels best in your hands. The one that feels best to you will be fine.

Canon Rebel XTi, XSi or XS

Nikon D40 or D60

Any of these cameras will be fine. They are good entry level cameras that you can learn a lot on.

If you happen to have a spare $40,000 the Hasselblad H3D would be the best of the best. It is a medium format digital.

the best camera is the one you know how to use.

asking which is the best camera is like asking which is the best car?

are you driving at indy or just commuting to and from work?

a camera is just a tool. its up to the photographer to take the photo.

I have a Canon 10D, though a couple years old now if I could buy another I'd probably upgrade to a Canon 5D if $$ allowed

The best is probably the EOS-1Ds Mark III, but it costs like $8000 and isn't the easiest for regular use.  Very cool though.

For everyday use, I love my Panasonic DMC-FZ28K.  It isn't expensive, does everything, and has Leica glass, which makes wonderful crisp photos.  I absolutely love it's ease of handling and overall quality.
