  1. Be careful of mentioning the Peróns...sometimes, depending on who is in charge of the country, it's okay, and other times, just mentioning their name can get you thrown in jail and the key thrown away.

Honestly, I don't think that sort of thing has happened in a long LONG time, but when I was in college, my friend took a textbook with her to Argentina, and almost got arrested!  Things have mellowed considerably since then, but there was that period two or three years ago, when they went through something like 6 presidents in a month.

I actually know a family that lives there.  They do fine.  They come visit his parents every year for about a week.  I think things are pretty inexpensive outside the capital, but the gas comment...I'm pretty sure they were thinking of Venezuela.

  2. There's a lot, and I mean A LOT of drugs in te teens -  young adult scene. Be careful.  Date raping is almost a sport in Argentina.

Whenever you have the chance, visit Buenos Aires, it`s a beautiful city, full of options to shop and have fun....

Try the wines and the meat, that`s the best Argentina has. Avoid eating in the street, only eat at your friends' homes or known restaurants.

If possible, avoid to drink water directly from the tube.

  3. If you're traveling abroad, general advice for anyone traveling abroad is to save money where ever you can. I studied in Italy and couldn't have imagined how much I would spend! The best tactic is to find ways to save money on large things like travel and hotels, etc. so it's ok to waste a little money on souvenirs etc. I'd recommend  http://www.studentuniverse.com/ for getting cheap airfare, hostels, rails, etc. It helped me out a lot. Good luck and make sure you immerse yourself in the culture!

  4. Its cheap there.

  5. oh i heard that the gas over there is 18 cents per gallon

  6. I might move to argentina because if America gets Universal Healtcare, then I will leave to Argentina because all huge places like Europe, and Canada have universal healtcare
