I opened my refrigerator doors and there was some kind of smoke coming out of them. I know that when you open the freezer stuff usually comes out of it but this was more than usual, and it was coming out of the bottom fridge too, from the light bulb. Is thi normal? This never happened before.

  1. If your fridge is an old one with amonia, the gas could be harmful. If you notice a strong odor, leave the house and call the fire department. If there is no odor you may be noticing more condensation than normal because of humidity.

  2. Does the light bulb need to be repaired or changed?

  3. It is likely just condensation. The humidity in the home is probably real high at the moment. If it doesn't smell like smoke it is probably just that and normal. The colder you have set the unit the more likely you are to see it, depending on the humidity.

If is was actually smoke and something burnt then something will quit working and you will know it in short order.

It could also be that you happened to open it up right after a defrost cycle and that increases the humidity in there for a short time also.
