i have a 1000 watt fosgate amp with 2 10" fosgate p1 subs. i recently bought a new optima yellow top battery because my bass skipped at high volume and the battery light would come on every now and then. ground wire was NOT included with the wiring kit so i used speaker wires as my ground on my amp. when coming 2 a stop (during breaking) the bass from my subs skips but if i am completely stopped or idling the bass has no problem at whatever volume.what is causing this problem? my friends tell me get a capacitor but i dont want/need 1 if the system is working at its best anyways.

  1. I'm imagining you have 4 gauge power wire. If you do not start by using four gauge power wire. You'll also need to replace that ground wire with a 4 gauge ground. Electricity will flow out of the positive wire, and then it needs an equal gauge wire to flow back out of. With using a higher gauge wire for your ground you're not allowing the energy to flow back out which is leaving it trapped in a sense. A capacitor is only going to help for short bursts of energy. More common when you're subwoofers are hitting a very deep note. In your case I'd start by fixing the ground. See if that improves anything. If not, then you can give a capacitor a shot, but I doubt it will do much good.
