Today I got my cavity filled and before they did it, they numbed the whole left side of my mouth. It's been one hour, I'm starving, but my mouth and tongue are still numb :( Does anyone know how long the numbing lasts? I wanna be able to eat without getting it all over me :( Please answer if you know!

  1. It depends. 1, how your body reacts to the lidocaine. 2, how many carpules(shots) you had. and 3, what type of anesthetic was used. There are all types lidocaine(most commonly used), prilocaine, septocaine, carbocaine, citnest, mepivicaine....and the list goes on. Just eat softly and slowly and you should be ok.

  2. you can wait like an hour or two.but you don't have to wait to eat.you can eat soup,,apple sauce,,or anything that is smooth that you don't have to chew on...it helps a lot so you don't starve =) hope you get better oh yeah.. you can drink to but only warm drinks cold might make your mouth freezing and cold

  3. Should wear off after 2-3 hours.

  4. Eat vitamin C. It reduces the effects of the numbness.

It actually works I've done it many a time.

  5. Ive had a cavity before, and the nummig lasts 2-3 hours, you can eat ice crean, applesacue, smoothies, etc. Hope I helped!!!
