When buying a used car, are you more likely to stay away from cars with a lot of miles or no? Why or why not?

  1. Miles on a diesel engine car do not matter as much as petrol driven ones due to less wear and tear, Check body work, brakes, suspension etc. and legal ownership.

  2. Yes because after allot of miles the car starts to have problems but some people don't care about that and are only looking at price

  3. Many people have limits.  For me, I would not buy anything that has more than 60K miles because you have no idea if the timing chain (or belt) has been changed or any other hard core mechanic work.

  4. Try to find a car that only has one owner. Sum up the owner as to how he or she maintained the car. There are "easy" miles and "hard" miles. If you don't have a lot of knowledge...take someone in the know with you. Good luck...

  5. Only reason is not the reliability but the resale value when you trade it in?  I tend to look for lower miles. But heres an example I just had. I purchased a 2005 Chevy Cobalt with only 14k low miles right? Guess right day one had a power steering leak. Returned it gave me a loaner thank god.  Got it back in a week.  Right away leak in the driveway same ;problem . Power steering leak again forgot what else they said but bottom line returned it . So beware of any car

  6. yes you want to stay away from cars with more miles. because the more miles they have the more worn they will be and the less they will last. however with lower miles it will not be as worn and will last longer.
