When did the world supposedly end?

I keep reading stuff saying the worlds going to end just like it did 2,000 yrs. ago? WTH does that mean? When did it end?

People have been making these claims for centuries now and over and over again, they keep proving that there is no way to predict the end.  Just keep living your life, practice safe s*x so you can have as many lovers as you want, wear sun-screen, and don't take anyone too seriously.

i think you misheard. perhaps they said that the world's end was predicted 2,000 years ago. it's supposed to end in 2012. which totally sucks for me because i'm graduating in 2012. sigh.. i won't even be able to legally drink yet! not that that will stop me... =]

The Mayans predicted that the world will end in 2012.  That is probably what you are thinking.

The world has never ended.  It's here, that's proof.  However, it is likely that other worlds with life have come and gone for all of time.  We don't know what's happening on the far sides of our Universe, but about 15 billion years ago the Universe started over, so the Universe before the Big Bang could have been simlilar to the one now, and there could have been a world with life on it capable of thinking and asking questions like this.

Do not believe what these doomsdayer authors have to say they appear to make what they're trying to say true however they're bending scientific facts there is not a single scientific organization on the face of the earth that supports any of this junk most every theory for 2012 has been disproved Nasa stated theres no such thing as planet x don't believe me go to their website yourself whats more is they do not have a single article about 2012 as for asteroids the next near earth asteroid won't be around untill 2029 and even if one were heading our way we could shoot a nuke at it sure if its large enough it would break into smaller chunks and still cause damage but would you rather end up like the dinosaurs I think not... as for the other theories for 2012 a pole shift takes 5000 years the ONLY way scientists say one could happen abrubtly would be if an extremley large asteroid hit us as for a gamma ray burst this is a slight possibitly but still very unlikely WR 104 "wolf rayett" is anenourmous star that could exploded at any time whos to say it already hasn't? BUT say it were to explode right now it would take 8000years becauuse it is 8000light years away assuming the burst didn't hit something between us and the 8000 miles plus scientists aren't 100% sure if the star could even produce a gamma ray burst it could just collapse into a black hole and plus the earth isn't lined up 100% with that star as for the Mayans liek the article said they NEVER mentioned the end of the world Jose Augilles started this junk back in the 70s IF THE MAYANS WERE 100%SURE THE WORLD WOULD HAVE ENDED IN 2012 it would have been passed down through generation to generation to prepare for it.. plus if these so called authors were really certain the world would end why don't they publish the books for free for instance theres a book called "how to survive 2012" ummm if he was 100% sure of this junk he would offer the books for free or post every page of it on his website why would he need the money if the world would end currency would mean nothing as for you jerks who want the world to end YOU HAVE NO LIFE you want poor inocent little kids who haven't done anything wrong but enjoy their life to die people who are good people that have nothing to do with whats going on today to die the reason why your like this is because you've never been laid in your life therefore your life sucks and you want revenge humanity has problems lets face it but not everyone is a souless killer/polluter so lets sum this up the mayan calender either resets in 2012 to 00001 aka dec 22 2012 or it continues up to 200000 aka around 8000ad the mayans NEVER mentioned the end of the world these doomsday authors are doing this for nothing more than financial gain as the article states... and most of the alledged doomsday theories are too unlikely or impossible to happen in such a short time span and you got to remember the doomsdayers do have a power ally called "what if" this special little "what if" will spark your inner fear into buying their worthless books as for the doomsayers themselves they have no life either they could not imagine a good enough award winning book so they take the ancient mayans and bend the truth about what the Mayans actually said or like I sabout the mean heartless jerks they've never been laid heh or have head a sucky life imagine if these doomsayers were married WHAT WOULD THE WIFE THINK OR THEIR KIDS=O?... It didn't. If it did would you have been able to ask this question and would I have been able to answer it,no. I think what you read was that the Mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012 over 2,000 years ago.

i think they mean an ice age because alot of stuff died and was the end of the world for like cavemen and animals who are now exstinct thats what they mean. :)

Um, the Mayans didn't predict the world would end in 2012. The Mayan calendars that have been discovered merely have that as the last year of their current Great Count, which is about 5125 years long. When one Great Count ended they would simply start over with another one. However, their culture died out so they aren't around to start another Great Count or to make any newer calendars.

Also, they made their calendars out of stone so they would last as long as possible. If they would have made their calendars out of wood, or anything else that readily disintegrated, we wouldn't even know about their calendars and nobody would even be worrying about the year 2012.
