  1. anxiety becomes a problem when you let it become a problem.. For me the worst time was when i couldnt leave the house at all, i didnt want visitors or anything, i actually moved out of my house and in with my parents because i couldnt control myself at home alone, i was worried about everything, from what if i dont wake up in the morning to what if i stop breathing etc etc..

I used to be able to control my anxiety until 2 years ago and i had big panic attack and ended up in hospital cause i got that freaked out from it.

I seeked help and got over over it - not completely but pretty much.  Until 3 weeks ago and it has come back for some unknown reason, docs thinks its cause of stress but having the anxiety is making me stress even more.  Currently i am taking 75 mgs of zoloft and 2mg of valium as a PRN.

If you think about your anxiety and panic attacks, thats when you will actually have one.  If i dont think about it, it wont happens, its weird but its kinda works..  If i think im gonna have an attack, surely enough i will have one.

  2. I actually had an anxiety problem this morning. I had an MRI scheduled.  I just knew I wasn't going to be able to do it. I had myself all worked into an anxiety attack before I even got there. But I went and when they were ready to proceed, I got real cold and the tears started to come. I told them  I couldn't do it.  I did try a second time but couldn't do it. So I have to call my doc and get a little pill to help me to cope with this and then I will be able to tolerate the MRI.

  3. Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.

But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!

Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to....

  4. When it affects your everyday life in a way that it prevents you doing the stuff you need to be doing.

  5. liek the other said, when it affects everything...

when if you dont recieve a reply to a text you bombard the person fearing they have died or been attacked or arel ed dyign somewhere...

when you fear if you go on a plane it will crash and you will die, not might, you will.

it works badly with pessimism, you look on the bad side of everything then convince yourself thats what is going to happen, and what is happening...

its no fun, no fun at all..

  6. I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is a panic/anxiety/depression all in one. My partner died suddenly when I was 33, now I am 40. I suffer PTSD since then as I watched him dying, when I realised I needed HELP as I could not function properly anymore was a few weeks after his death, I'd forget to shower(not on purpose, just forget) I had 4 children to look after I wasn't coping so a friend moved in and helped me greatly! I think you KNOW in yourself when THINGS are not right, I suggest you go and see your DR and be HONESt all the way....it's not a bad thing to go for help , it is a very brave thing to do. I still have my moments but I've also been to councelling and learnt ways when I do get anxious how to calm myself and feel normal again, I also do take medication for panic attacks, anxiety and depression. I hope my story has helped you somehow, its not weak to go and ask for help, we can't always be strong and all of us suffer different things in different ways, all the best :))
