Question:

When driving should I...?

When driving and making a turn should I go hand over hand OR hand to hand. I'm a student driver and my instructor is teaching me to go hand over hand which I find easier. However, my parents insist that I should go hand to hand to avoid confusion or mixing up of your hands. Especially my dad, who I must say is a very good driver who has been driving for a really really long time.

  1. well if your in the UK then you wont pass if you drive hand over hand but if you can where you are then what you feel  best for you

  2. I would say hand over hand. I just started about a month ago but I think it's a lot easier.

  3. Use the hand over hand method because you will have more control over the vehicle...............

  4. Do hand over hand as long as you are with your instructor so you can pass... I recommend a hand to hand movement though.  You shouldn't cross your arms.

Hand to hand, keeping a 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock is what we are taught in the high speed course in the academy.  It is what most professionals do, and allows for more control and constant grip of the steering wheel.

But do what you instructor tells you, and do the same thing for your diving test.  Once you have your license, switch to the hand to hand method.  It is all about giving the people who are grading you what they want.

  5. If you want to pass the course, you'd better do it the instructor's way.  Also, the examiner won't like to see you let go of the wheel.

  6. i agree with ur prnts but if u want to turn reely fast and reely sharp its 1ovr the othr. safety 1st=)

  7. HAND OVER HAND IS SAFER

  8. I'm a student driver, and regardless of my other problems, I think I can answer this...do what feels natural.  Hand over hand it is (works best for me, too). Hand to hand seems slower, especially if you aren't used to it, so I wouldn't risk it unless you're practising in an isolated area (my mom and I went to a nearby industrial park, some of my friends try school parking lots or cemetaries when trying someting they aren't familiar with in driving).

Your dad is probably so good that he CAN do hand-to-hand XD. Don't try to show off. Try to survive. XD
