  1. depends more on your strength, rather then how long your have danced.

i'm 13 and september will be my 3rd year. my teacher said i'm ready for pointe though.

  2. It all depends on your strong your muscles are, you don't want to go en pointe when you are ready. Your ankles have to be very strong, and you have to have very good balance.

Do tons of releves at home [or wherever you can] and that will strengthen your ankles and build stronger calf muscles. Also just  go up on releve and try to hold it for as long as possible to work on your balance. [i do that when im brushing my teeth] If you do this everyday then your muscles will get stronger and im sure that your teachers will notice that you are working extra hard and the might put you en pointe.

All studios and teachers are differen't though, but just keep practicing and work very hard during every class and your teachers should notice your hard work.

    :] Good Luck!!

  3. Talk to your teacher and discuss your goals together. At 12, your feet should be strong enough to support you en pointe, especially if you have strong technique and a good base of skills.

After 3 years of dance, and a skipped level, you should be at least ready for pre-pointe if your studio offers it. In the meantime, show your teacher you want it, learn from critiques, and take as many classes as you can.

  4. starting pointe really depends most on your ankle leg and foot strength.. ask your ballet teacher if she thinks you are ready.. she would definitely know.. also find out if there are any pre-pointe classes that you could take. they would work good at strengthening your legs for pointe.

  5. well i have done ballet for 9 years since i was five and i got my point shoes when i was 13. It all depends on whether your dance teacher thinks you are ready for point and to see if your ankles are strong enough to handle the pressure.

    Good Luck

  6. really it all depends on your foot structure and ankle strength.  If your foot isn't grown in all the way then you can't start (or it's best if you don't).  Also if you go up to relevé and loose your turn out you're not strong enough yet.  Ask your teacher to be on the look out and to give suggestions!

  7. well it all depends on how strong your foot and ankle muscles are, most dancer prefer people to go on point after they they hav done their grade four exam but really it all depends on how strong your ankles are just ask your dance teacher so she can tell if your ready or need to wait a little bit lnger

good luck i hope you get on to point i really want to go on to point aswell :)

  8. ask your dance instructor. they would what your strengths are. i'm 14 and have been taking pointe for 4 years. i probably would have never gotten into pointe if my dance instructor hadn't suggested it for me.

  9. i started pointe when i was 12.  i would say you could start pointe soon, but every studio/class/teacher is different

  10. most studios allow children as young as 11 to start pointe, but don't rush. Your feet and ankles aren't compleately developed until you are about 15 so some studios don't let you do it till then. it is what your dance teacher feels is right, but for when you do get those shoes practice elives and relives (sorry i can't spell french but it means to lift if you don't understand me) to strengthen your ankles.

  11. you can start when you are probable 12 to 14. and because so that your toes don't collapse take it slowly. but it really is  about your ankle strangth.

  12. it all depends on u (ur skill, techineque, how often u attend classes) and ur teacher and dance studio. i started 3 years ago, but i been dancing since i was 3. most studios dont let their students begin before they reach 11.  but it all depends on how good u r as a dancer! just be patient and work hard! always accept corrections and apply them! good luck!

  13. It really depends, but in most ballet studios girls go en pointe around 12 or 13. I went on when I was 12, personally, at level 3A. It might help for you to ask your teacher what you can do to improve and possibly get en pointe faster. If he/she knows that you are interested, they might start paying more attention to you. In any case, make sure you keep working on your ankle strength, as this will get you there faster. Good luck and keep dancing!

  14. it depends on what your teacher says.I'm 13 and i start in the fall.mostly it matters technique, ankles, and your body.if your pretty small and your not closed to being developed yet then it isn't something to focus on.also if your technique isnt their yet then you need more training.good luck.

  15. Probably around 15 to 16 years of age, at the point the bones and muscles start growing as fast.

But before you reach that age, you better do exercises to stretch your heel, calf, ankle, and foot muscles, because pointe can create massive strain on the smallest part of the feet....the wrong technique or wrong alignment on full pointe may lead to stress fractures of especially the toe, which takes the most weight on pointe.
