When is the Janamashtmi Fast?

Question

When is the fasting for Janamashtmi. Is it today i.e. 23.08.2008 or tomorrow. What is the shubh (auspicious) time of pooja (Prayer).

No the great occasion of Lord krishna's birthday is on 24 of August. The best time to prayer is 12:00:00 night of 24th aug, cause Krishna was born at that time. This is the right and Subh time for pooja. when a baby(male) comes to Home "Thali bajana" is the custom in our religion so you can play with thali to welcome lord krishna on that time. "Panjeri & Mishri, Panchamrit" do you know about them. I will tell if you don't know .

Today, Saturday 23rd August

Janamashtmi falls on the eighth day of the waning moon in the month of Shravan in August/ September. Lord Krishna is believed to have been born at midnight on this day. The day is marked by fasting, feasting, dancing and singing hymns and prayers.

In india fast of  janamashtmi is tomorrow 24 aug.  subha time of pooja is started after 10 pm of 24 aug. because we believe that shrikrishna is born on 0.00 hours so before his birth we did all pooja & when born time is come we do a aarti of shrikrishna. and if we you want to make something  for pooja then make 'Panjeri & charnamrut'  because these are main 'prashad' of of shrikrishna for janamashtmi.

Jamnastami falls on the 24.08.08 this year note: this is in Australia, in some countries the festival falls a day different to us...the fasting is until midnight...
