  1. ok..glad to help...global warming started at the end of the last ice age

  2. Well I dunno when...

But I do know it was with a thermometer.

And someone discovered that the entire earth has leapt one degree in the last hundred years.

Of course before then who knows?

Could have been going up for the last 500 years.

  3. People have speculated for over a century that CO2 output could lead to warming via the greenhouse effect.

  4. Between 10,000 to 20,000 years ago when the earth's temperature was more than 8 degrees colder, on the average, than now.   We were in an ice age then.  People then began noticing the ice sheets each year didn't come as far south as the last year, so they began to migrate north as more land opened for them.

We are now on a slow slide back down to that colder temperature.  There are oscillations on the way down and we are in one of those.

See the Greenland ice core data graphs at http://www.exploratorium.edu/climate/cry...

they show the 100,000 year cycles of ice ages we are in now.

  5. 1975 a group of British scientist notice there was a hole in the ozone

  6. The earth is not warming !

  7. Here's a good summary by the American Institute of Physics:

    The Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse Effect

  8. The first theory of global warming came in 1824 when French mathematician Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier discovered that the Earth's temperature was slowly increasing. Fourier argued that the earth's atmosphere traps solar radiation and reflects it back toward the earth.

  9. The year 1896.

It started with the chemist Svante Arrhenius (1859-1927) with his paper:

"On the Influence of Carbonic Acid in the Air upon the Temperature of the Ground"

    Philosophical Magazine 41, 237-276 (1896)

Arrhenius thought it would be beneficial.

  10. its been around for a while. since the 60's maybe 70's. but its been happening ever since the beginning of time. first extreme heat, then extreme cold

  11. The modern movement began when the Soviet Union was on it's death bed.
