When will my braces come off?

I have braces and have since the 1st of may, my top teeth are straight now and i only just got my bottom braces on yesterday..(14th august)

I have the elastics on and they're doing my head in.. i got them yesterday too. He said wear them for about 4 weeks. I read that they perfect your bite. Does that mean that when he takes the elastics off i'll get retainers?

no it does not.

All braces cases (haha that rhymes) are different. Because we all have different teeth/jaws etc. and the different severity of our bites.

because you've just gotten your lower means that your treatment isn't going to be done very very soon. that means that there has to be move movement. the elastics do help your bite tho.

what orthodontists do, is when they feel that everything is perfectly good, they keep the braces on for a couple more months to ensure that the teeth are going to stay the same exact way. (this is good because you payed tons of money, might as well get a garuntee right?)

so i can't tell you when you'll get it off, but remember, just because the teeth are straight doesn't mean that there's nothing wrong with it too. there can be crowding, small spaces, etc.

the best answer you can get from is your orthodontist.

Not necessarily.  They may make you wear the braces even after he takes the elastics off.  They told me I was only going to have to wear my braces two years and it turned into three and a half years.  I lied and told my orthodontist I was moving to another state and I needed my braces taken off because I wouldn't be able to drive back to my appointments.  So they took them off the next month.  

Now I wish I had worn them as long as they wanted me to because my teeth weren't as perfect as they looked when I had braces on.  And make sure you wear your retainers as often as possible.  Because your teeth will shift after you get your braces off and the retainers keep this from happening.

I regret not wearing mine because now they won't even fit over my teeth anymore where they shifted so much.  I would get braces again if I could afford them so enjoy this benefit.  It's worth it in the long run when you have a beautiful smile!

Taking your braces off depends on if you are taking care of your mouth or not.

It usually takes around eighteen months.. For my brother it was about two years and i got mine fitted just yesterday!

I have to wear mine for around eighteen months. My brother now wears retainers and he has to wear it for a couple of months also.

It depends how straight your bottom teeth are. If they are pretty straight and all that is being corrected is your bite with elastics, i would say probably about a year. You will get retainers when your braces are off, but not right away when they take you off elastics. Try your best to wear your elastics as much as they tell you to, then it will be faster to correct your bite. I know it will be a pain and sometimes you may fall off habit, but trust me, if you dont wear your elastics as much as instructed, you will have to wear them for many more weeks or even months until your bite is corrected.

it matters how ur teeths condition are becasue when u get them off u could get a clear like mouth grad thing but thats only if ur teeth are good. and if there in bad shape then u mite have to get a retainer to fix um up. but hopefully u can get ur braces of and get the clear mouthgards tere rly cool

i am waiting to have my bottom braces to be fitted, i think it just depends on how much they need to straighten. the top one was annoying at first but just tell yourself NO PAIN NO GAIN. it will be worth it in the end. x x
