I'm 12 and everyone in my class has to do volunteer work. I'm an animal person but I really don't know what shelters or vets I can volunteer at. I tried Toronto Humane Society but I was too young so if anyone knows any other places... Thanks!!

  1. See if there is a chapter of the girl scouts or girl guides in your area -- they often do group volunteering activities. Also go to Google and type in

    volunteer toronto

I volunteered at your age in the office of a hospice, but was able to only because my mother was there as well.

NetAid has programs specifically for students in North America who want to help in the developing world. NetAid is now a part of MeryCorps

TakingIT Global is another resource for young people in the USA who want to do something to affect the situation positively in developing countries

  2. 12 is kinda early for volunteer work. (I was required to do some too)

Maybe you can go to a church, senior home, or some recreation centres? I don't think any shelters will take someone who is twelve...

You can try the toronto public library. But they usually require a minimum age of 14.

Umm, look for some volunteer brochures, or flyers.

And maybe there are some programs in your school, or local daycare.

    Good luck.
