We're looking for a dog in a shelter. Does anyone happen to know any good shelters in Contra Costa County? I've looked at quite a few shelters already, but we haven't found the right one. Thank you!

  1. at a pet shop

  2. dogsindanger.com

it has dogs that are going to die soon from euthanasia....

  3. U know there r also a lot of rescues for specific breeds of dogs as well. Just do a search online for what ever breed u want and include the word rescue.

  4. http://petfinder.com/

Shelters almost everywhere post adoptable pets on the site.

Make sure before getting the dog, you check if it's still there.

Some shelters aren't very good at keeping their data updated now and then.

Before getting the dog, make sure you study on the breed.

It is good to be well prepared and know the nessasary items to care for the breed. It's good to look at the common health problems and find some ways to prevent them.

It helps prevent visits to the vet and pay medical bills.

Thank you for saving that one dog out of a million out there.

    =)

  5. www.petfinder.com  there is a link you can go to that can find shelters in your area.  Then just research them.

  6. Where are you in Contra Costa? If you are willing to drive a bit, I really like the East Bay (Oakland) SPCA. They have some really nice trainers there who really work with their dogs. I used to bring my dogs over to have play sessions, and there are some really nice and social dogs there.

They have all their adoptable dogs up on their website.

  7. www.petfinder.com  you can search for shelters and rescues in your area there.

  8. Well you could just go to craigslist.com and look for someone who is moving and can't keep their dog, you can also go to petfinder.com or nextdaypets.com but those will charge you an adoption fee or it will be a puppy you have to buy. I used to not want to adopt but then I realized you can love any dog, and they are really in danger, so i advise adopting a dog.

We just got a 6 mo. old puppy from there.  He's amazing!  The foster parents often start training the dogs.
