Where can i find a train?

where can i find a train that goes from indianapolis, indiana to stamford, connecticut..? how much would it cost?

You can find this information with a search engine, when you enter the names of the towns and train, mostly something will come up.

When you know that the long distance trains are all done by Amtrak, add that and see what you get.

I did find a list with all official abbreviations of the stations but no train planner.

So I changed my search to train planner Amtrak, and got this page:

I entered the names of the towns, easy as I had the right abbreviations:

STM - Stamford, Connecticut

IND - Indianapolis, Indiana

And the site came up with $158.60, for a travel leaving 12:50 pm 27-MAR-08 by bus, (as it did not find a train) and arriving 6:29 pm 28-MAR-08

call 800-USA-RAIL. there is no direct route as amtrak cut a lot of routes. you would have to go from indy to charlottesville then up through new york.
