  1. Though I cannot give exact years, the British who ruled India till 1947 have maintained records of Cyclones that hit East Indian coast since 1870s. Masulipatam (today's 'Machilipatnam', a coastal town and headquarters of Krishna district figures many times)Their records are to be found in government publications called 'District gazetters'

  2. I think you are a bit confused with the word cyclone. In meteorology, a cyclone is any convective low. That is: air is rising rapidly, decreasing the pressure. The opposite; a high pressure where the air sinks, is called an anticyclone.

Cyclones is the name you can give to a hurricane, a typhoon or any low pressure on earth.

But for many people, cyclones are mostly used for tropical storms happening in the Indian ocean. However their nature is not different from any tropical storm anywhere around the world.

Low pressures can be anywhere on earth but they tend to be in two regions, or belts around the earth.

The equatorial lows that are the result of the extreme heat of that region, and the frontal lows that are born under the front between the polar regions and the surrounding temperate regions.

There is no record of the 'first cyclone' since they are as old as earth itself.

  3. They begin out on the sea when the water heats up and so on and so on BAM!
