I have been accepted for a new high dedecutable health insurance plan for a single individual at $1000. I have been reccomended to open an HSA. Apparently each bank has a range of different policies regarding monthly fee's, penalties, etc....anyone reccommend a bank they've had success with?

  1. The insurance carrier that you have the high deductible plan with will most likely have certain banks they work with.

  2. vimo dot com has a great comparison of HSA's and lets you sort them out by which feature are most important to you.

  3. Best bank, by far, at the moment is actually a credit union.

Call Patelco.  They have a very high interest rate and no fees.  415-442-6200.  Hopefully, you can open an account via the mail.

If not, call American Charter Bank; much lower interest, but no fees.

Go to HSA Insider.com to see banks that have paid for a spot on their comparison sheet.
