Question:

Where do I donate??

I have a TON of my grandmothers things (clothes, dishes, small appliance, decorative things for the house, etc..) in my garage. I also have a sleeper sofa and a dresser and mirror and a chair. I have found places that will take the clothes and dishes or some of the furniture, but I haven't found a place that will take it all. Anyone know of a charity that will take it all at one time?? I also need them to pick it up because I don't have a way to get it all there. I have tried The Salvation Army (ARC is affliated with them) and all the Veterns Places, but no one will take it all or if they will, they can't come pick it up. I have a place that I can take it, but it will be awhile before I can get a trailer or something to get it there, so I was looking for somewhere to donate it all sooner.

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

  1. I know the Salvation Army in Corsicana will take anything you have to give.  Also you could put it on craigs list.   www.craigslist.com

  2. If it's that much, you may just have to get rid of it a little at a time. You could always have a garage sale (then if you want donate the money or something) to get rid of some stuff. As for the rest, just have the people who are willing pick up as much as they are willing.  If you are so determined to get rid if it all at once, you might have it all there longer than you want. But, if you get different people to take it little by little, it will go faster and easier.

  3. I'd put a listing on freecycle and craig's list for someone who will take it all and pick up.  Bet you'll find someone.

After my father died, I had to take care of all his belongings quickly as I had to return home and to work.  I found a flea market dealer who was delighted to take it all.

  4. Do you have a Goodwill? They will come get the things.

Do you have a freespace online to put these items on?

If no to the above questions, call a church and see if they can suggest somewhere to take these items.

  5. Have you tried a garage sale? I know it's a hassle but you can mark the stuff down next to nothing and people are sure to clean it out!!!
