Where do eye boogers come from?

Like legit...how does it get all encrusted in your eye?

  1. It is the body's defense reaction to encapsulate foreign particles in your eye.  Consider how much dust is floating around in the atmosphere.  No matter how much you blink, the eye is open for long durations in which dust particles will land on the surface of your eye.  The blinking action wipes the eye clean (so to speak) and gathers particles together forcing them to accumulate at the corner of your eye to form the 'eye booger'.


  2. A lot of those crusty things you get when you wake up are actually little tiny bugs that live on your skin.
