Actually they live on all continents (Except Antarctica) as they cannot bare the extreme cold weather.

They live from deserts to forests.

Low-lands to mountains.

Swamps to raging rivers.

Jungles to homes :D

Their habitat is very divers partly due to mans involvement over the centuries.

Spiders generally prefer cold, damp dark places, hence you may encounter them in homes spinning a web in a corner (usually they hide in behind large obstacles / closets / mirrors / cupboards)

Since they hunt in the dark, they are more active at night. Some spider pray on insects that get caught in their web. While others go out hunting for live food.
