Where do the ghosts go when the structure they are haunting burns or rots or is torn down?

How about the ships laying on the ocean floor that are supposed to be haunted by ghosts, eventually the ship will rot or rust away. What do they do then, just sit there in the mud?

  1. Many ghosts haunt the land and not the structure.  They would stay on the property I guess.  I would think that a ghost would only see his or her surroundings as they were when the spirit had a body.  So they wouldn't notice the absence of a building or structure.

  2. the legend is those that die at sea get tooken across relms to heven or to h**l by the flying dutchman

  3. wherever they want

  4. The 'other side'

  5. They go on vacation and stay at the hilton. gee there is no such things as ghosts

  6. We have a haunted state park where I live.  150 years ago it was a little town that was built around the canals in the creek there.  The town is completely gone now except for the grist mill.  But there was a house there until last year from the original town.  It was haunted by a little boy named David who was 8 years old.  Last April the house was torn down.  I worried that the little boy would just disappear.   But he did not.  He is still there, haunting the site of the old house. I was amazed.  I really thought he would have moved on.  For all we know, the house is still there for him in a different plain of existence.  In the paranormal world, anything is possible.

  7. Well, in most cases, ghosts don't know they're dead so they probably wouldn't even understand what is happening. Some people who study spirits have told me that they are attracted to anything that has "light," like a person (spiritual/energetical light) or even just bright lights themselves. The light is what is thought to give the spirit energy. When a light source is gone the spirit would theoretically move to the closest thing that has light.

But other people think that spirits can be tied to certain objects or places and even if those things are destroyed from their original appearance the spirit would still stay with it.

There is also a chance that the spirit might realize, when their object they are haunting is gone, that they are dead or that it's time to move on. People who work with spirits call this "elevation" to the spirit world or heaven or whatever you want to call it. This is often just a matter of realizing they are dead, realizing they have no reason left to stay on Earth, finally seeing the "light" of heaven that pulls them to the spirit world, or finally wanting to go to the light. But I don't know if you wanted that much detail...
