I'm a college student with a few thousand dollars in the bank. I realized that i really don't want to keep working for super markets anymore. I want to be able to double my money and be smart with it. Instead of saving them dollar by dollar. So if you know, can you please tell me where i can learn to do stock trading? or other investment classes?

Thank you!

  1. This is a good site.  It can teach you a lot about stock market investing.

  2. I don't know of any good classes, short of an MBA program.  I also don't know anything about the first site suggested.

Investopedia is definitely good.  For online resources I also like the Motley Fool & Morningstar.

There's a bunch of good books, too.  I'd start with Peter Lynch.  Then Benjamin Graham, Philip Fisher and anything written by/about Warren Buffett.

  3. I have no clue why anyone would suggest stocks-simplified.

Investopedia.com (tutorials section) is what you are looking for.  If you are a college student, go ahead and take an investment class in business finance.  You should be able to get in one

A library is another great place to start.

The best thing to do -- get started investing early and use your college education to its fullest.  Good luck.

  4. There are no courses in the academic world that really prepare anyone for investing properly in the market

You will have to educate yourself, so start your education by learning why you should invest and the importance of being able to make your own decisions or how the pro’s make theirs.

Here is some reading material that can get you started in the right direction, The first book you should read is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

    Then try some of these

What Works on Wall Street by James O'Shaunessey

Beating the Street by Peter Lynch

One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch

The Warren Buffett Way by Robert Hagstrom

Get into the habit of making daily visits to some websites like MSN Money and Yahoo Finance.  (http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp http://finance.yahoo.com/ )

While at MSN following the strategy lab analysts to get a feel for what the pros are doing and why.  This site has some basic information for beginners.

Other website that can provide instructions and help with procedures and terminology are Investopedia - http://www.investopedia.com/  Stock Charts - http://stockcharts.com/  http://www.investorshub.com/  http://www.1source4stocks.com/

Visit some of the more professional websites like Zacks - http://www.zacks.com/ Smart Money - http://www.smartmoney.com/  Schaeffer’s – http://www.schaeffersresearch.com/

Some of these web sites will have advertisers who are worth looking into also.  And remember, if they offer free information, get it.

Good luck, study hard and you'll do well investing.
