Hanna, the eighth named storm of the hurricane season, strengthened into a hurricane Monday in the Atlantic Ocean.

That made it the fourth hurricane of the season, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Long-term projections show the storm could come ashore along the border of Georgia and South Carolina late in the week.

"Right now, the uncertainty is such that it could hit anywhere from Miami to the outer banks of North Carolina," said Jessica Schauer Clark, a meteorologist at the hurricane center. "So people really need to keep an eye on it."

  2. As of 8:00pm EDT, Hannah was stationary and located near 22.1N and 72.3W (just northwest of the Turks and Caicos). The winds were 130km/h (80mph) and the pressure was 980mb with little change in strength expected over the next 24 hours. They're showing the projected path heading towards the Georgia/South Carolina border. There's a lot of uncertainty with this storm. But each side of the "cone of uncertainty" extends from southeast Florida to New Jersey. Hannah is capable of making landfall anywhere in it's projected path as a hurricane. Everyone from Long Island to Florida should be prepared and keep an eye on this storm as well as tropical storm Ike which is right behind Hannah. Here's two good links to stay informed about Hannah:

  5. Hurricane Hanna, currently a Category 1, Hurricane, is expected to hit the eastern coast of Florida, then hit South Carolina and North Carolina. Possibly a major hurricane by Saturday.
