Where is kharasan?

Not an easy question to find answers to, especially as your spelling is suspect (due mostly to transliteration).  There's a Kharasan uranium mine project in Kazakhstan; that's the most reliable link I could find.  I also found an oblique reference to Afghanistan.

There's also Khorosan, which is an ancient central Asian region as well as a name of a couple provinces in Iran (which is where my original guess was, actually).
