I want to use my desktop wallpaper for something but I did not save it to my hard drive. Does it get stored in a folder somewhere when I set it as my wallpaper? I use Firefox.

  1. go to start and than control panel, thats where mine are..

  2. try "find files" function and type the file name of your wallpaper. (the name of the pic) search your entire computer and see what it finds containing the files name.

  3. basically XP & Vista are the same in many ways. picture/wallpaper folder are one of those same as.see screencast

  4. Go to the start menu, then the control panel. Click on the display icon and then the desktop tab. You will have several choices there, but you can also click the browse button and choose any picture or image you have saved on your computer.  Also when you go to save a picture from somewhere and you right click, you have the option to save that as your desktop picture.  ;-)

Oops, I answered this before reading your whole question. I hope I can edit this here. So it should be at the bottom of the choices after clicking the desktop tab on the display icon.  Just scroll to the bottom to find it.

  5. Well, if you haven't stored it, you really need to download it again.

anyway, for your default wallpapers in XP, you can find it at

    C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

    good luck!
