Question:

Where should we go on holiday?

We are looking for a cheap relaxing break. Somewhere warm with good beaches and lots to do culture wise with nice resturants and bars but not to "clubby" so nothing like ibiza etc. We are both 20 and just want a romantic get away where we can chill out, drink cocktails by the sea and maybe get a tan!!!

We are finding it hard to tell on holiday websites and don't want to end up in the middle of no where with nothing to do. Best way to describe what we are looking for- cosmopolitan with beaches!!!

Thanks

  4. mm I havent ever been to cannes, in france, but i often go to france and its really nice. Cannes has really nice beaches, and i assume it would be very cultural, they have the film festival  and all that over there and from what i've seen/heard, really nice restaurants and cafes, by the ocean/beaches. Heres a website that'll tell you heaps more about Cannes! It was also in Mr Beans Holiday lol and it looked reallly pretty! heres some Cannes info:

    CANNES BEACHES

Le Meridien Garden Beach - This beach is located just out of Cannes and with its white sand, warm sun and great atmosphere, it is one of the most popular beaches. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes near the beach, so you can have a great time regardless of what you're in the mood for.

Plage du Martinez - This is one of the more famous private beaches. The rich and trendy of Cannes come here to catch a few rays and hang out with other beautiful people under its famous pink umbrellas. If you're feeling more energetic there's water skiing, parachuting or tubing.

    CANNES BARS & CLUBS

Loft Bar - Located at 13 rue du docteur monod, this is a New York style lounge bar and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. After 11pm the bar and sofas fill right up and the dance floor is heaving with party goers. Dress trendy and smart.

Claridge - This pub, located on the corner of Rue Bivouac Napoleon and Rue du Marechal Joffre, is a popular meeting place for sports fans and young people in general. Sporting events are shown on the large screen in the main room, where you can also have a bite to eat.

Morrison's Irish Pub - 10, rue Teisseire. This is the best pub in Cannes, the atmosphere is great and the decor amazing. Live bands playing traditional Irish folk, rock or blues appear on a regular basis and sports fans are kept happy with big sporting events relayed on a large screen.

Cat Corner - 22, rue Mace. Serious clubbers head for this club every time. Mix with the venue's young, attractive clientele and get down to the sounds of groove, funk and house. This is one of the best and most popular clubs, not to be missed when in Cannes.

    CANNES ATTRACTIONS

Musee de la Castre - This museum occupies the former Castle of Cannes, atop the hill of Le Suquet. The castle, a listed historic monument, has housed the collections of the Museum of Cannes since 1952. The museum has combined the ethnological and primitive art collections with those of the Fine Arts Museum, a fine collection of works by 19th and 20th-century painters from Cannes and Provence.

Musee de l'automobile - This is the only museum of its kind in the region, and has an amazing collection of 100 classic cars and motorbikes. Rolls Royces, Ferraris, Jaguars and Bugattis from early prototypes to the very latest models designed to compete in legendary races such as the Le Mans 24-hour race and the Paris-Dakar rally are all on display. Located at 772, chemin Font-de-Currault.

Petits Trains de Cannes - Boulevard La Croisette. Catch some of the most beautiful sights in town aboard this delightful little train. The Croisette tour takes you along Cannes' famous seafront past its beaches, the gorgeous belle epoque facades of its luxury hotels, and its Palais des Festivals as far as the new port at Pointe-Croisette. The Suquet tour winds its way through the heart of the old town on Suquet hill, taking in the Midi beaches and the old port.
