Most  fossils form when the hard parts of animals ,such as shells and skeletons,and less often plant material,become buried in sediment and preserved as it converts into rock.So,some sedimentary rocks contains the fossil remains of past life.Even coal is found in sedimentary rock only and hence it is called fossil fuel.
