  1. Sicily is very safe, and with so much to explore and discover.  Palermo is a good city to start, it is the heart of Sicily, big, busy, dirty, beautiful - it's everything from tiny piazze (squares) to grand palazze (palaces).  There are thousands and thousands of cared for mummies in the Convento dei Cappuccini, very solemn and somewhat eerie to think that families came here every year to dress their long-departed relatives and have picnics with them.  Cefalu is picturesque, with all the greenish blue of the Mediterranean and the colorful puzzle of brick and plaster houses wedged between the sea and the cliffs.  Mt. Etna near Catania is popular, but for a quieter and less touristed volcano, take a boat to see Vulcano, the mythical home of the Roman god Vulcan, or take the ferry further to Stromboli.  The Greek ruins at Agrigento are among the greatest in the world, and the ruins at Segesta and Selinunte not so far behind them.  Siracusa is a city filled with history, although maybe not with so many gems as Palermo.  Caltanissetta isn't all that impressive but it is the base to several small mountain villages and towns.  Smaller Enna is much more enjoyable, a medieval fortress city atop a mountain.  It is windy and the streets narrow, but is really a beautiful place not to miss.  Caltagirone is another mountain town worth a visit.  There are great Roman mosaics and ruins at Piazza Armerina, the town itself is pretty, and the ruins are the Roman villa are among the best in the world.  Sciacca is an untouched-by-tourism pretty coastal town, not so far from Agrigento to make it a worthwhile stop to enjoy the coast and wander through its streets.  lf you venture to the west of the island, in addition to Greek ruins there is the ancient coastal cities founded by Phonecians such as Trapani, which is all right although kind of modern now, or Marsala, of which an older feel permeates the whole city, and the much more medieval town of Erice.  This was ancient Eryx, the town founded by the Elymians, who were themselves survivors of ancient Troy.  There are a lot of tourists, but it is worthwhile to go to see such a great town.

Really there are thousands of places to see that could make an excellent trip to Sicily.  How much you enjoy your trip depends on what sort of trip you want to make - will you go to see history, or to shop in open squares and markets?  Do you plan to hike in the mountains and climb cobblestone streets?  Do you want to climb up to active volcanos?  There is a lot to this island, and whatever you decide to see, it will probably be very memorable and time well-spent.

  3. To give you an idea where the best place is for you it would be interesting to know your preferences.

Yes it is safe from my experience.

  4. Do you know how hard it is to travel in Europe?  It can be difficult, and unsave, and not very fun if you don't know where you're going or what you're doing.

That's why the best way to do Europe is a student tour!

Especially if you're young.  Did you know that youth are encouraged to travel with many many discounted  programs?

Are you between the ages of 18-26?  If so, I can reccommend how I have travelled all of Europe.  It's awesome!

    Check out this site:
