a nice place to live for an Erasmus student?

Is it considered close to central Madrid?

Is it considered a good location? good neighbourhood?

How well do you rate this location?

Any related comments are welcome!

Cheers

  1. Hi, well its not bad but aint so hot either. It is not central madrid or close to the centre. It is actually more on what were working class suburbs, outside Madrid 10-15 years ago, which have been now surrounded by even other belts. It is a strory building area, and the neighbourhood...I had a girlfriend living there and I was not very thrilled. I am sure you could get better. If you want centric or elativelly centric you should try for Moncloa district, arguelles, centro, castellana, viso, barrio de salamanca,  ventas, san bernardo, cuatro caminos hasta plaza de castilla, etc farthest parque de las avenidas. There was till quite recently a bus called el circular, because it circled the actual madrid proper that today you could consider relatively central anything within that ring or circle. Also you might use as reference the M.30 highway that circles Madrid. Yust exclude the north-west and south-east limitst since they are too far away (it more an alipsis than a circle). Anything inside is more centric than the Av de Portugal, is outside the M.30 like maybe a couple of kilometers up from the river. Also depends how up you are since it is a long avenue and has many numbers. Could not see that clear in the map. Depends of the money to spent but before at least, foreign students used not to go so far. If it is at the begginning of Avenida de portugal at least you have decent metro and bus connections that would take like 10 metro stops at least to the Universidad complutense or to Puerta del Sol on other direction. If you have a car or motorbike then it is not so bad because it is near the exit to Toledo and so you can jump into the highway easily and be in 10-20 minutes at the university. There are a couple of highway near you and a lot of incoming and outgoing traffic.

However have not been in madrid last two years yet I think the area probably has not changed much in that time.
