Where to live near Grand Junction?

Question

My are thinking of a possible move to Grand Junction, or at least my husband would be a sales rep. in that area. From what I have looked at there are mostly mobile homes and the few new homes are too expensive. Anyone know of a city nearby but not too far that would be better for family living? We have two kids.

The town of Fruita has nice homes and only 11 miles away.
