Which Firewall should I use?

My Symantec Norton just popped up a message saying:

Symantec recommends to have the Norton Internet Security Firewall. Currently Windows Firewall is being used.

It continues to say that that the Norton Firewall will give optimum protection and asks me if I would rather use that one or Windows.

Which one should I use and why

If you have Norton, use Norton and disable Windows Firewall. Because 2 firewalls can't be running at the same time (affect each other). I recommend Norton is because its updated regularly and more comprehensive, and its a 2-way firewall.

NORTON...windows firewall has always been a problem..also recommend getting another browser Firefox.com or OPERA.com or any other you may choose

Hi,

Windows XP default Firewall is a simple firewall which protect your computer from Incoming traffic. You should have firewall which protect you from -Out & -Incoming traffic. I.e. Online Armor http://tallemu.com or Comodo.

I recommend Online Armor which has implemented HIPS security. This provide you very high level of security.

My advise is that you don´t use either.  Windows Firewall is not a true firewall as you only get incoming protection from rogue packets.  A real firewall, has to give you two way protection from incoming rouge packets and keep your personal data from leaving your pc without your permission.  Turn off Windows Firewall.  Nortons is really a hugh resource hog and not very good.  If possible turn off their firewall.  Install the free version of Zone Alarm free for home personal use.  I  have used for ten years and never has one rouge packet been able to get passed my firewall.  Plus is 100% leak proof as I perform a weekly test using GRC software.
