Which SUV is better?

Question

My mom is looking to get an SUV since our family will be adding some new people because shes getting married to somebody with 2 kids and we need a bigger car. Me and my mom have been looking for an SUV that sits 8. I ofuond 2 that I really like, the Acadia and the Pilot. And also she doesn't want a mini van.

Which is safer?

Which one gets better gas mileage?(We drive around a lot)

Which one is more comfortable?

Pilot got a top safety pick for 2008. Acadia wasn't tested, but is actually pretty good and nimble for its size.

Pilot gets better mileage; the Acadia doesn't get very good mileage because of it's size and mass.

The Pilot has a so-so ride and is has some road noise. The Acadia has a nice ride and is pretty comfortable. The 3rd row in the Acadia is better: the Pilot's is cramped.

You can get great deals now on the Pilot because it's the end of the model style (redesigned for 2009). A friend of mine got one for 28 grand.

Good luck! Oh, and I would suggest looking at the Saturn Outlook instead of the Acadia, they are the same car but I think that the Saturn gets a bit better fuel economy. It's also cheaper, so you can save more money.

I think the pilot is the best choice. The gas mileage is probably better than the Arcadia because its not as heavy and the engine is probably smaller.

Dont get the Ford Flex. It might have some problems that have to be addressed (after all, its a brand new model that has never been driven by the public before....)

Saturn Outlook & GMC Acadia

will seat 8 comfortably and have a nimble and quiet ride.

Ford Taurus X also will hold 8.

none of them get good gas mileage...

check out the flex too, it's the best gas mileage in this class.

really though, for comfort, reliability and fuel economy, the minivan is the best vehicle in this size.  they have more room, bigger seats, more leg room, and will average around 20 mpg instead of the 16 or 17 of the SUV's... doens't sound like much?  that's 15-20%.  if your mom spends 4K a year on gas, that's 6-800 a year in savings, plus lower payments and lower insurance.

I think the new Pilot is considered a better vehicle overall. The '08 Acadia is good, but avoid the '07. That Pilot is darn ugly to me though.
