Question:

Which Tapeless Camera is the best?

I’m looking at getting two cameras for me and my friends wrestling shows, since we do weekly shows and put them all on the internet it takes a long time to transfer our shows to the computer using my mini DV camera, so anyways I’m looking at getting a digital camera that uses Memory Cards, I’ve been told them make SD cards up to 16 GB, though I’ve never found them, I was also told that because of the price it’s a lot cheaper to get these then a hard drive camera, one thing I need is for it to be able to support up to 16 gb SD cards, (I noticed some say only up to 2 gb) so I was wondering if anyone had some good digital video camera picks for me? All I need it to do is take pictures and good videos (with sound) thanks in advance for any help!

oh yeah, and our website is www.snrwrestling.net

  1. Since you did not provide a budget...

The BEST tapeless cam will be a miniDV tape based camcorder using an external hard drive from Firestore.

This is because is stores in the same formats (DV or HDV) that miniDV tape stores in - which are the least amount of compression.

Hard drive and flash memory camcorders store video using highly compressed MPEG2 - or AVCHD if you capture video in hidef. But, if you must, check the

I wouldn't waste my money on it, but it gives you the memory card storage you want. I strongly suggest you NOT use the hidef/AVCHD video capture and stay with standard definition.

I know you have not stated this - but DO NOT GET A DVD BASED CAMCORDER. Worst available quality - probably even worse than those flip toy cameras.

  2. I've been looking for a  camcorder myself. I've been checking online for the last 2 weeks. I don't want a tape either (harder to upload to the pc).  There have been some good reviews about the Flip camcorder, but I would like to see for myself what kind of quality the videos have.  I can't spend a lot of money, but want one that's easy to record and upload for fun and vacations. Let me know if you find something.
