Which Wings team is better?

this years team or the team from "96-98"?

I think you can make a case for both, just curious what others think.

Its tough to say. I believe it was Scotty Bowman that said recently that this team is looking better than the 97-98 team. Chris Osgood said that this is better than he has ever played as well.

If you look at the top point scorers from the 97-98 team, the top 2 were Steve Yzerman with 69pts and Nick Lidstrom with 59pts. This year, the top 2 were Pavel Datsyuk with 97pts and Henrik Zetterberg with 92pts. With that alone I would say that this years team is better.

The 96-97 team's top scorers were Brendan Shanahan with 87pts and Steve Yzerman with 85. That is still a lot less than Zetterberg and Datsyuk from this year.

The Stanley Cup is NOT over yet!!  The Mavs were up 2-0 to the Heat a few years ago and they started planning a downtown Dallas parade.  So what happened?  The Heat won the title 4 games to 2!!

96-98 without a doubt. Stevie Y, Shanahan, Sergei (at his best), Draper, McCarty, Nik Lid, Osgood...just amazing.

I haven't seen this years team so I will go with "96 to "98
