Which apartment should I choose?

Question

I'm deciding between two apartment buildings in Arlington, VA. One is Crystal Square and the other is Crystal Towers. Anyone have any comments or suggestions? Is one nicer than the other? Is one more convenient than the other? How are the facilities? Is the joint washer/dryer a pain in the neck?

try looking on rent.com or apartments.com. they have reviews on them from former tenants so you'll get a better idea of the living conditions!

It would be unlikely to find someone on here who has actually been to both of those places. However, I have found when apartment hunting that writing a list of amenities is a good idea and then calling to ask if they have these things.  

Example:

Heat included?

Water Included?

Electric Included?

Pool? (Indoor or outdoor)

What's the Square footage?

How many bathrooms?

Cost?

Deposit?

Storage?

Washer/Dryer?

Dishwasher?

Microwave?

Air Conditioned or wall/window AC?

Pets allowed?

Once I have called each place and gotten the answers to my questions, if I am still interested in both places, then I would go there and talk to the residents. Just find someone who is outside the building and ask them if they live there. Ask them what they like and dislike about the place. Also, you can go to the police department and ask them about how frequently they are called to each complex. This will give you a feel for how safe each area is compared to the other.
