Which bike would you recommend?

I'm not sure what kind of bike to get. I'm looking at a motobecane on bikesdirect.com for around 400$. I don't want to spend any more than 500$. Should I get that or a bike like a trek or giant? Tell me what you think!

Don't get a Motobecane. They are not that great. I have two giant bikes that I love! So I highly recommend Giant for there great bikes and quality control and customer service.

Also remember! When you look at website like Giantbicycles.com and Trek.com you see an AVERAGE price. The price is often much lower and varies from dealer to dealer. So before you go by the price on the website, see what the dealer has it priced at.
