Which camera to buy?

I have the following options -

Nikon D40

Nikon D60

Nikon D80

Fujifilm Finepix 100 fs

With the Nikon D40, I'll be able to save some money and with D80, I'll go hungry for sometime. I like the features in Fuji but hate the digital viewfinder (which I have never used). With D40, I am not very sure about the picture resolution.

Which one would you buy?

  1. The D40 and D60 come with kit lens. The D80 kit lens is optional. The resolution on the D40 is excellent due in part to the 18-55 lens, (28-90mm) that comes with the camera. The D60 is just a step up from the 40 and the fujifinepix has a fixed lens, no room for expansion. The D40 is under 450.00 making it a good deal. I know because I have one.

  2. I bought the  Aiptek PocketCam 8200 8-MegaPixels here

and  spent 4 times as little, but you go hungry if you wish and get your SLR :)

In fact, here's a vid of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al3o1k3QZ... it's 3 times a chunky as what I can bear too.

  3. FIRST OF ALL GO FOR NIKON:

    D80: http://alatest.com/nikon_d80/digital_slr...

U WILL SEE D60 IS THE BEST AMONG ALL THREE

u can read many reviews from expert as well as users.

    GO FOR D60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    !!!HOPE I HAVE HELPED U!!!

  4. I've no experience with or knowledge about those listed. But I have used a great many Nikon amateur and professional film cameras and consider them highly over-rated. I was once given a Nikon Coolpix 800 and it seemed very cheaply made. It failed shortly after the warranty expired.

I have nothing but bad things to say about any of the Fujifilm cameras... film or digital. They've proven very unreliable.

My film cameras (I have about 150 of them now) are all Pentax, Ricoh and Yashica. Some more than 40 years old and still working perfectly.

I've used a Canon A510 for my digital needs for the past 3 years and have nothing but praise for it. Reliable, takes excellent quality images, has awesome macro capability and uses standard AA cells.

Just my personal opinions and experiences with 40+ years of photography.
