Which country should i marry?

Question

i have been living in italy for one year with my boyfriend. I am american. We would like to get married and file documents so we can live in america. Is it better to go to america and marry or stay here and get married... if i marry in italy i stay here for 6 months and then plan on returning to america...

If religion and family/personal issues weren't at stake, I'd say get married in the U.S. I think it would be easier to get his U.S. paperwork and for you to keep your U.S. citizenship. You need to come back to the U.S. once a year to keep citizenship, no?

get a visa,go to america,get jobs(good ones!) get married,they cant kick you out,once your paying insurance and medical regularly,just dont mess up!

ms k  think about it, if you want to eventually move to the U.S. then get married here so you can de-conflict any immigration issues immediately rather than find out later when you and luigi are ready to come home.  I have been to italy and papa johns has better pizza.

Actually, if you are currently living in Italy, it would be faster to marry there and file the immigrant visa petition in Italy rather than filing it here. Processing an immigrant petiton is usually much faster overseas than through USCIS in the US. If you wanted to file a fiance petition and marry in the US, you would need to file it in the US, as it can't be filed overseas. That would take 6-10 months before the petiton made it to Italy and your fiance could be interviewed.  Check out

Most All Christions would take the chance to be married in the country that is the seat of one of the worlds oldest faiths

We were married in Italy

My sister went through the same thing with her husband.  believe me, it is alot easier to get married in the states, and it is harder for them to kick him out if you are married.
