  1. Go with Vista. It is more secure than XP with SP2. There is a lot of people out there that don't like Vista and some of it's features. Especially UAC. UAC asks for permission to do a lot of functions like installing programs, changing settings, etc. UAC is actually a good thing. First of all in XP you would need to be a admin on the machine to do a lot of the functions I just mentioned. Second, one of it's other features is to prevent unwanted and harmful software from getting into your system without your permission (that's why you get the prompts). Disabling it defeats the purpose.

There is also a lot more features in Vista than in XP. I have used XP since it came out and have been using Vista since that came out. I like Vista and have no reason to go back to using XP. Do some research on reputable websites about both operating systems. Don't listen to people just rant about one or the other.

  2. XP is better! It runs faster and more stable and doesn't come with UAC (messege that says continue or cancel) and you have to answer more questions to get to lvl 2, ur not far now!

  3. crazy man-

Hi, my name's Cody, and I'm working with the Vista Outreach Team to answer any questions that folks might have about Vista.

Frank P has the right idea: the person who can really answer your question best is probably you!   Microsoft has released a comparison (it's a .pdf file, so make sure you have Acrobat) that runs down the main differences between Vista and XP in an easy to read format. It lets you compare and contrast Vista and XP, and it should give you more than enough information to help you understand the benefits of both systems!

Here's a link to the comparison sheet: http://download.microsoft.com/download/3...

I hope this helps!  Let me know if you’d like any other info!

    Thanks,

    Cody

  4. Hey, all of you guys have some good advice, but I don't want you to make him crazy. What I'd recommend is to dual-boot Vista and XP (which means installing Vista and XP at the same time). To do this, you have to have an additional drive with at least 20 GB free space, in which you can install Vista. If you don't have another drive, you can partition (or shrink) your primary drive. To do this, use GParted. After that, install Vista on the other drive. Reboot and you'll get a shiny boot manager. However, Windows XP is called Earlier Version of Windows. You can Google this to solve the problem.

  5. XP is good.  Vista has a lot of special effects which may look nice, but it's actually a shield so that the customers are fascinated while the system loads. And, all these special effects will cause your graphics card to work harder, reducing gaming performance and lifespan.

  6. I kind of like vista with the new looks and stuff but it kinds of slows down the computer like 50%, but in the other hand XP is way faster, but sometimes it has no protectection over your computer. Vista has protection to your computer thats the reason why it always block some sites, but u can always turn it off. So they are both like the same accept the speed and the way it look

  7. Both, Vista is getting better now

  8. XP is much more user friendly and easier, in my opinion. Vista has too many problems right now, but they're working on fixing that.

Also, you need around 250 points to be level 2.

  9. XP by far! Every operating system can only be reliable when the second Service pack is out. I would recommend Vista only when Service Pack 2 is out

  10. ARE YOU CRAZY? Vista sucks. No offense people that use it. I have vista and it ask permition for everything.Sometimes it wont even let u download it.

  11. XP cause vista ain't user friendly

  12. I have been a firm XP proponent...having said that...I had to replace my XP O/S laptop with a new one that came with Vista installed...after two weeks of using it I am at least satistfied with it...the biggest and headache producing problem with vista was the way (microsoft) Vista insisted that the only way you could use it was the way (bill gates) vista thought you should...they didn't think that most users were or are interested in the way their computer operated...so they didn't let them do anything...

once you get past the "access denied" and "permission required" and "not allowed" warnings and firewalls and security that didn't want to stay turned off the vista system isn't real bad...

you HAVE to learn how to gain control of your files and system...

I believe I still prefer good ole reliable XP and use it on my desktop...what it will come down to is personal preferences...

as for your level two on yahoo question...start answering questions...get a lot of 10 pointers...don't ask questions (believe you get charged 5 points for each one you ask)

  13. I guess XP is more better for me, because lots of useful programs can only be run by XP (Even pressing 'Run this in compatibility mode XP SP2 will not work). I am not saying that Vista only program are not great but usually if they are vista compatible, they might be XP compatible as well.
