Which is the best DVD player?

My dvd player is constantly turning itself off, and now it will only turn on for a few seconds and turns off again. I;m going to get a new one, but for the price, are the cheaper ones reasonably reliable? I have an LG at the moment and am usually happy with their products, but what about the cheapie ones from the discount stores etc?

What is your opinion?

I'd say Panasonic, def. NOT Sony!

Philips DVP-5982 is $60 on AMAZON.  I has HDMI output and 1080p conversion. Great picture!

Next step up - OPPO 981HD - about $200.  Great picture and sound.  And come with HDMI cable included.
