Which riding helmet?

I am going to buy my daughter a horseback riding helmet. However, which one is better, the Troxel sport helmet or the Troxel spirit helmet?

I ride horses six days a week, and I show all the time. I have learned that it is a GREAT investment to buy a good helmet. Troxel is the helmet with the least protection. If your daughter is really interested in riding I would really recommend buying a good helmet. But they can get expensive. The one that I would recommend is the GPA. they top $300, but they will replace it if it cracks. I have fallen HARD many times, twice fracturing my back. My helmet has cracked and I have GPA to thank for no concussion. Another good brand is IRH. They are less expensive (around $100) and they also have good protection. Lastly, a top brand of helmet is Charles Owen. They have great protection.

So, I am just telling you from experience that the more you invest in a helmet, the more that you are going to get out of it. I have had my GPA for 3 years, and it has helped me SO much. So, if your daughter really gets into it, you should consider getting a good brand of helmet. It will pay for itself the first time she falls.

Does it really matter?

I mean if it protects your head buy it.

I like the Spirit better because of the Dial-a-fit feature.  It really depends on the shape of your daughter's head.  The Troxel helmets are made for an oval shaped head.  Others are made for a more round head shape.
