I know that different people have different preferences, however...

in my experience, rats come out on top. They are intelligent, extremely human-friendly, rarely bite, and loooove to give kisses!

My two rats are even potty-trained...and they're boys (who notoriously love to pee EVERYWHERE. They just do their business in a little litter box in their cage.

Definitely a rat. I have had just about every type of rodent pet you can have, more than anyone else I know, and rats have always been my most favorite.

When I evaluate other animals, I automatically use rats as a base for comparison.

They do have their downfalls. If you don't like an animal the needs a big cage, needs to be handled daily, can be noisy or messy, or needs lots of toys, a rat might not be for you. But I have to say that rats are definitely the smartest and most affectionate small&furry pets I have ever met.

Rats.

I hate to admit it because I LOVE hamsters ( I own one) but rats are great to have because (unlike any other rodent) they are intelligent and you can teach them stuff. All the others are great too. But parents tend not to like rats because of their tail. I WAS going to get one but my parents revolted. xD

Guinea pig, I have 4 and I adore all of them this is just my opinion but I think a guinea pig is the cutest animal ever!
