I have a 2005 Avalanche and I am trying to decide between 6 Ply tire that will cost me $850 total and a comparable tire with better warranty that is a 10 ply tire that will cost $776

I am going on a 7000km road trip this february but I also have to consider that I will be doing alot of off road/gravel road driving this summer. I also live in BC so I have winter driving to consider.

  1. I strongly recommend winter tires from Micheline  X Ice

i have them and they are amazing

  2. Just get the 6 ply tires because the 10 ply tires will have a very rough ride.

  3. Well the ten ply tire will last you alot longer. (They are what is on  school buses.) but the ride will be hard. But you also have to consider the tread on the tire.  The ruffer the tread the more traction you will get.  Also the the thinner the tire in snow the more traction you will get.

If you use this car also for casual driving I would say the 6 ply.   You will get a smoother ride and if you want a little more traction have them put nitrogen in the tires. (nitrogen does not expand or contract due to weather temps) also take alittle air out of the tire or drop the pressure for those times you want to go off road.
