Which video and subtitle format?

I have a Sony RDR-HX750 DVD Recorder. I also have a movie on my PC in .avi and subtitles for it in .srt format. I want to burn it and watch it. Can I just burn the movie and the .srt subtitles with the same name, or do I need subtitles in different format?

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, never had a problem!
