Question:

Which would be more interesting?

As some of you would know, I am writing a story with this idea:

A girl is bored and decides to write a story, so she goes and asks a neighbour for an idea. The neighbour says she should write a murder mystery. So the girl goes home and begins to write the story in longhand. She bases the story in her home town. After writing three chapters of the story, she writes it on her computer and then goes to bed. The next morning, she sees the newspaper about a murder, which is strangely like the story she is writing...

Would it be more interesting if she had MPD and was actually the one doing the murders or not?

Thanks!

  1. MPD is a little predictable.

Maybe her neighbour is doing the murders and frames the girl. That's why he/she gave her the idea! So then he/she would copy whatever the girl wrote and it would look like the girl knew something... Maybe the girl thinks she's going crazy and maybe it really is her, but in the end it all comes down to a showdown between her and the neighbour. That'd be an excellent story!

    Good luck x

  2. i'm not begging a thumbs down but i guess those guys that found it deja-vu thought about the film Secret window with johnny depp;))

it's just a resemblance, it happens but the twist will surely end it all. You could focus on the neighbor too and make him the murderer and the girl a puppet. You can set it in the late 60's when forensic science was poor developed and women emancipated.

what would the victims be like?make her an adolescent and the murderer would have a crush on her.Still don't make him kill her boyfriends:-j

or make him mature, handsome ...father figure

  3. I'm pretty sure they made a movie about this very same thing

  4. Yes much more interesting. It depends if you want it supernatural or not. I prefer the latter, it's a little more scary..

  5. umm.. someone already made that story, its a movie

  6. Well would she have know she has MPD? I'm not really sure how MPD works or anything, you might have to research into the disorder.

Perhaps it could be her neighbour doing these crimes, maybe her neighbour has MPD?

Hahaa, I have know idea, but good luck with the book anyways (Y).

  7. Yes, she is the one...nothing better than a good twist.

  8. Nice plot....

Hmmm yes it would add a twist to it, but it could be obvious that perhaps the girl was pierciving things wrong/or in a different way because of her MPD...

Maybe use the MPD idea but don't tell the readers, just leave hints...

    =]

    Good luck!

  9. I think that would be really interesting! Although, as another idea, she could keep writing her story, and use it's content to figure out who's been doing it!

  10. i would think if i was reading it... that it would be a cool twist if she was doing it lol. that would be awesome. sounds like a good idea for a story =] GOOD LUCKK!!!

  11. no, it would be more interesting if there was a stalker committing the murders however that is quite predictable so you idea would be an unexpected twist to the story.

  12. The thing about fiction is that you have to be creative - do what you think would be more exciting if you were reading the book, and hadn't written it. A good idea sometimes for that is to put the story away for three or four weeks or months, then take it out again, and read it from a readers point of view, not a writer's one. Also, about the year, you need to think about the atmosphere in the town - does everybody know eachother? Is it a town or a village? Or is it a city? If it's a city, are there much ciies around? If so, it's more modern, if not, it's older. If it's a village, I live in a rural village, but there aren't much around anymore, so you'd want to make it older. And if it's a town, you can make it just about any time. Remember that the girl is using a computer. This makes it late ninteen hundreds.

You have to think of everythng, but more importantly, be creative.

The best of luck with your book, on behlaf of me and all of www.bestbooks4ever.com.

  13. Definitely, especially  if there were a couple of pages from the point of view of the girl as she is committing the murders! good luck:-)
