  1. have fun with that so do we you must have well water that is what we have try using iron out on the toilet and clean sink every week take you clothes to some else washer also ask your land lord to get a new water softener that help alot

  2. My water gets a rusty tinge to it when they're testing fire hydrants in our neighborhood.  The Fire Dept. 'drains' them out and this happens every single time!  The water in the toilet looks orangish.  I make sure I don't wash whites on those days.

If you don't think it's that, then you probably had something orange colored in with your whites.  That's all I can think of.

  3. Your washing machine may have a rusting tub.  The colored clothes cover up the orange stain.

When the tub is empty and dry, look for chips in the enamel of the tub, especially around the holes.  You may see rusty metal or rust streaks on the enamel.

If the machine is still under warranty, this may be covered.  If not,  you can get an enamel touch up paint that will temporarily solve this.  Look at a home repair store like Home Depot, Menard's or Lowe's with a really good glue section and ask one of the employees what product will be best.

Also, be sure to check the pockets of your clothing for small metal things that could scrape off the tub's enamel and cause more problems.  There may also be some rusting metal bits stuck in the tub holes causing the orange staining.

Something else that could be causing this is a high iron content of your water.  There are rust treatment products you can put into a water softener if you have one.  There's also rust treatment products in the detergent aisle of the grocery store you can put into your wash load to prevent or wash out iron staining.
