Question:

White dress after Labor Day?

It's Labor Day, therefore, its the last day I can wear this really cute white dress that I have never gotten to wear. The problem is, I'm pretty sick, and I don't feel well enough to go out. I live in the Midwest in a college town-(Columbia, Missouri) and it will still be hot here for several weeks. Would it be totally inappropriate to wear this dress in 2 weeks to a winery if I feel better by then? The dress is a jersey material, it doesn't have sleeves, and it's definitely a summer dress. Your opinions are appreciated!

  1. It's fine  - the rules are more flexible than they used to be. Since jersey is a versatile fabric, I say go ahead and wear the dress.

  2. As you already know, white is suppose to be out after Labor Day. However, most fashion "rules" are ignored today.  If it has eyelets, I wouldn't wear it, it would be too summery.  If it is warm, go ahead and wear it if you don't have anything else to wear. Or you could go shopping and find something brown, wine etc.. to wear.

  3. That rule has gone by the wayside. If anything, worry about shoes & handbags being white. The dress should be fine to wear. Just go with different colored accessories.
