Who Doesn't Recycle?

I put everything that needs to be recycled in the recycle bin. I DO recycle.

I do well most of the time sometimes I forget and throw something in the regular trash or one of the kids do but 99% of the time we do.

I attended a national meeting a few years ago.. here is some info as to why recycling isn't what it should be:

No place or system to recycle in your city or rural community.

No end market for recyclables.. it is better now. No distribution system, like all the wood from the recent Okla ice storm, could have been used for firewood or mulch, also it had to be removed ASAP. Consider a 100 plus year old Pecan grove, bulldozed for quick construction of a mall.

And two old grain silos, we were going to recycle..enough

#1 wood for 15-20 houses.. bulldozed because it would have taken us a month.

Transportation and handling expense, can't be rationalized until there is a market and manufacturing products. It is becoming more cost effective now though.

Now is the time for creating your own business in this niche,

recovering metals is  possibly profitable, or a portable saw mill, taken to where a big tree is storm damaged, lumber

can be milled on-site!

I don't. It is not that I cannot but it is not very convenient here where I live. If there were a recycling bin in my condo complex then I might be more likely to do it. I do help a little by giving away unwanted items on craigslist.
