  1. That isnt true about not touching the eggs or baby birds if you need to. I dont understand why people think that if a human touches a baby bird or an egg that the parents wont care for it it, but it isnt true. If it was true Breeders like me would never be able to check the condition of the eggs or chicks. I have to always check my Bird's eggs to make sure they are developing correctly and after the chicks are hatched they are weighed in and check over to make sure they are healthy and defect free. I have never had a Parent Bird reject their young because they were touched by human hands.

Now in the wild yes Parent birds will abandon their chicks if the chick is sick or has fallen out of the nest. If the chick has fllen to the ground the Parents will try to look after it and protect it for as long as they can, but after a while the parents give up on the chick on the ground because they are not able to pick up their chick and put it back in the nest.

So keep an eye on the nest and if a chick does accidentally falls out of the nest and you can place it back with no problem, the parents will be grateful if you do.

Generally  once their nest is completed and they breed it takes about 3 to 5 days before the female will lay eggs and since it is a Dove the eggs should hatch in about 18 to 21 days after they are laid, and they generally hatch in the order they are laid.

  2. i raised an abandoned dove that flew in to my dads digger you should leave them alone dont touch them or handle the eggs at all it is likely that there are eggs in the nest if you dont want them there call the rspca but please leave them be.

  3. With in six week there will be some eggs in your turtle doves nest. Good luck, remember not to touch the eggs at al or the parent birds will abandon them.
